At
MJ's apartment in the Atlanta before departure. Our hair never looked
this good again.
On
the train from the airport into Paris with Donglin, (Mary Jean's grad
student).
At
the Eiffel Tower on Bastille Day.
At
Notre Dame for Sunday Mass.
An
after-Mass ice cream. (We always looked for excuses to eat ice cream).
Barbara
meets friend Abby's niece Greta Szmaj….
And
Greta's friend Matt. Oh, to be young and living in Europe! We were
born too soon!
The
view from our Paris hotel room. It was truly the "French experience".
While
Mary Jean toiled away at her converence, I was treated to a day trip
visiting country villages with our Atlanta friend, Bob Meredith.
As
an artist, Bob has a knack for finding scenes depicting the classic
French countryside. He had already spent a month painting the Seine
River from it's origin to the sea, and was on his way back to Atlanta
to exhibit these new works.
Mary
Jean and I do a day trip to Chartres and Versailles. We ran in and
out of the raindrops.
And
Mary Jean had a really big hair day!
We
arrived on the Normandy coast and decided on a three day bus pass.
It came in handy!
A
view of the old seaport from our Honfleur hotel room.
The
curator at the Caen museum said, "This is no joke. This is art!"
We
spent four days shopping for "brocante" and discovering the Normandy
coast.
And
explored the seaside resorts wih turn-of-the-centurey homes and mile-wide
beaches.
Whether
it be city or countryside, we always found time o shop and eat!
