Hurricane Isabel, September 18, 2003

Top: The storm was raging, but Ginger rocked steady with the wind. Middle: This is no fish story. We have recorded proof of 59 knot wind speed and saw the indicator hit in the 60s a few times. Sustaining winds were in the mid-30s. Bottom: Our T-Mobile AirCard proved priceless. We could read hurricane updates, and watch the sattelite images of the storm's progress.

By Friday morning the sky was clear blue and we were left to sweep off the leaves and pine needles and re-rig all the lines. Nothing provides a fresh perspective on things like a trip up a 64' mast !

No hurricane would be complete without a Hurricane Party. The host vessel was Bonny Blue, a new sixty-five foot classic 1920's style passenger yacht. She was designed by renowned Naval Architect Merritt Walter, to capture the ambiance of the 1920's style plumb stem inland waterway steamers. Get more info at www.bonnyblue.com.

....and a good time was had by all !
